Brief
In August 2009, The Dolomities ( Southern Limestone Alps) were declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Therefore, The new refuge will be constructed to celebrate this event as well as serving as a shelter for hikers. Refuge Fronza located 3250 km. above the sea level with the visual connection to the existing refuge. The project questioning if the new contemporary architecture can provides comfort for the hikers as well as evokes a spirit of living among the nature.
Construction/Materials
The combination between stone and wood construction. Dry stonewall for the external facades in contrast with the insulated internal wooden walls.
